Our Sweet Sonora

Last week we said goodbye to our baby, Sonora. She was 10 1/2, a little young for a boxer. We found out 2 months ago that she had lymphoma. The vet gave her 2-6 months to live. Last Monday night, her breathing was so bad and sounded extremely painful, so we decided that we couldn't let her suffer any longer. Jeremy took her to the vet Tuesday morning, and was by her side when the vet put her to rest. Jeremy said she was very peaceful. She will forever be in our hearts and the kids call her their "angel."
Our very dynamic duo. The adventures we had with these two were so much fun! I bet they are boxing with each other right now.:)

Sonora was amazing with these two when they were born. She was always so very gentle. When they were in their swing, she would very gently pull their socks off with her teeth. It would always crack us up.

...and boy did the babies love her. She taught them that animals are wonderful companions and the importance of being gentle with animals.

The ranch has always been Sonora's very favorite place. Daisy loved the cabin, because there were so many areas to explore. Sonora loved the openness of the ranch. When she would arrive at the ranch, she would run as fast as she could. Sometimes she looked like she was prancing. But, boy, did she get herself into trouble! One memory that sticks out is when she and Daisy caught some skunks in the middle of the night. Sonora would not let it go no matter how many times it sprayed her. This was the night before Jeremy proposed to me! We were giving them tomato baths the day we got engaged. They smelled like skunk for over a month:) Another not-so-good-then-but-funny now memory is when they about killed Jeremy's uncle's cat. It made going to the ranch a bit stressful for awhile!

I'm assuming that I was holding up a treat to take this one:)

They would take naps with the babies:)

I love this one!

Emerson learned how to stand up using Sonora. I had forgot about that until I saw this picture. She would always go to Sonora for practice. Smart girl- Sonora was a soft place to land!

Nothing like chewing on a stick outside on a beautiful day.

She was such a tolerant dog with 2 toddlers in the house!

We love you sweet baby Sonora. You were so very loved and are missed terribly. Thank you for being such a special part of our lives!
