Emerson at 1 year

Weight- 18 lb. 4 oz (10th percentile)
Length- 29 1/4 (60th percentile)
Head- 17 1/2- (35th percentile)

Emerson is one! Our fun little princess is always on the go. She loves to be chased, dance, climb, play on Grammy and Grandpa's bed and she especially loves to read books. She has several favorites and will go pick one and bring it to you. She has a beautiful smile and giggle that she shows off all throughout the day. Emerson is very social. She likes to be around people and other kids and she talks all the time. She squeals and imitates sounds we make. She says "Dada" and she can also tell you the sounds a dog, cow, sheep and kitty cat make. She can point to your nose, toes and ears. She also knows doggy and teddy bear. The list is growing each day! She has two teeth on bottom and that's all she seems to need, because she eats just about anything. She actually surprises me with some some foods she likes such as olives, tomatoes and pickles. Occasionally she will decide not to eat something for a particular meal but she very well may like it the next day. Emerson is very spunky. She loves to be the center of attention. Happy 1st Birthday dear daughter. We love you!

Blake at 1 year

Weight- 23 lb. 4 oz (60th percentile)
Length- 31 in. (80th percentile)
head- 18 40th percentile)

My first born baby is 1 year old. Blake is such a fun little guy! He loves all of his toys and often goes from toy to toy just playing. His favorite toys are musical instruments . He also likes his pushing toys. As soon as he starts walking/running he giggles and gets really excited. He cruises all around furniture and has been taking a few steps (his P.R. is 7!) for about a month now. It won't be long before he is really walking. I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that yet! I want him to stay a baby and a crawler for a little while longer. But, I guess it's not up to me:) Blake is very sweet and cuddly. He still likes to be cuddled after naps. He also gives lots of hugs and will give you a kiss if you ask for one. Blake is learning so much! He can say mama and dada, and woof woof. He can point to your nose, ears, toes and lips. He also knows bottle....that is probably his favorite. He L-O-V-E-S his bottle. I'm in the process of weening him from his bottle, but this probably won't be an easy one. Blake is a great eater. It can be hit or miss, but he pretty much eats anything that I give him. Some favorites are applesauce, macaroni and cheese, fruit grain bars, bananas and honey nut cheerios. Blake has 6 teeth; 4 on top and 2 on bottom. He is a very happy, easy going little boy. We love you sweet baby blue eyes....Happy Birthday!

Blake and Emerson Turn 1!!!!!!

We had a big party planned for Saturday to celebrate Blake and Emerson's first year. I had so much fun planning! My sister and her family came into town and we were ready for a fun-filled weekend. I was anxious to get out of school on Friday to head home and start the celebration early. Jeremy gave me a call at work Friday afternoon to tell me that he was taking Emerson into the doctor because she had been vomiting. The doctor told Jeremy that their is a very yucky, extremely contagious virus going around. It lasts for about 48 hours. G-R-E-A-T timing....ugh! A few hours later Blake vomited and we made the very sad decision that we needed to cancel their 1st birthday party. Jeremy and I called our 40 friends and family that were going to be coming the next day to tell them that the babies were both sick. I called and canceled the balloons and the food:( I caught the virus a few hours later and Jeremy got it the next day...icky, icky, icky!!! Luckily we were all feeling better by their actual birthday. We did still have a nice weekend with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and our niece, Madeline. Luckily they had already gotten the virus a few weeks earlier. We still cut the cake and the babies had a fun day. We are going for round 2 on the party next weekend for those who can make it!
Our cake...for 30!

Emmie's not so sure.

What an amazing year it's been! Our precious bundles of joy decided to make their grand entrance on the one day that love is celebrated all around...Valentines's Day! There could not have been a more perfect gift for Jeremy and me! We have watched our little miracles grow from teeny tiny little newborns to the fun, active babies they are now. When Blake and Emerson were put into our arms, our lives changed forever. We could never have imagined how much love and joy they would bring to our lives. In an instant we had a complete family, and we feel so incredibly blessed to be their parents. We love you Bud Bud and Emmie-Belle!

STEPS, STEPS AND MORE STEPS!!!

Emerson has been taking a few steps here and there for a few weeks now. She would do it without even realizing it. In the past few days she is now very aware that she is walking. She gets onto her knees and pushes off the floor to make herself stand. Once she balances, she will carefully take some steps. We have counted up to 6 steps! Then she gets really excited and silly and falls all over the place giggling:)
